Human-Nature Connection
In 2017 I started my self-portrait project which has now become my main project. In a time where it seems like we are getting more and more disconnected from nature, I want to show the opposite in my photos - I want to show a harmonious relationship between a human being and nature. My aim is also to raise awareness about the physical and mental health benefits of spending time in nature and to inspire others to protect and respect nature.
The moments when I take my self-portraits are magical to me. I feel like I let go of my own identity and story and connect with the elements around me - I become one with nature. I’m a tiny part of nature and also all of it. In these moments I forget about the cold and everything else and I just am.”
Often when I look at my self-portraits, I don’t think of them as portraits of me, but as a representation of human-nature connection, at least that’s what I hope it looks like.
My photos are original and not manipulated. For me it's not only about the end result - it's about the whole experience of taking these photos and each one of them has its own story. I take the photos myself by using a tripod and remote control. I post behind-the-scenes videos from most of my photo shoots on Instagram.
